Our History

SPORTS & MORE was established in 1999 to spread an interest in volleyball throughout the tri-state area. Located at a five-point intersection in Sewell, N.J., the 8-acre, sports facility was originally named Five Points Community Volleyball.

Once completed, Five Points Community Volleyball included five indoor volleyball courts, eight outdoor sand courts, locker rooms, and a concession stand. Soon, volleyball enthusiasts throughout the country flocked to the state-of-the-art facility.

In 2002, Camp SAM opened for children, ages 6-14. Sports & More unveiled a unique curriculum, which offered day campers a fun, safe and professional environment to enjoy sports. Children loved the weekly sports clinics and the bi-weekly theme days, including the Sports & More Jell-O-War now famous throughout the community.

In the camp's second year, the program grew 400 percent. Today the camp features a rock climbing wall, an in-ground pool, a nature trail, a waterslide, and a huge trampoline called the Amazing Jumping Pillow.

The day camp's success inspired further diversification. The facility added two basketball courts, and basketball leagues began forming. In addition, the facility evolved into a premiere venue for indoor and outdoor parties.

After such growth and change, Five Points Community Volleyball outgrew its original name, and the company changed its name to the Five Points Sports Complex.

In 2005, the Five Points Sports Complex expanded to include Tumble Times Gymnastics Center. Tumble Times established an alternative to traditional gymnastics lessons- gymnastics for fitness and fun, not competition. The unique, playful gymnasium began to grow into one of South Jersey's premiere children's birthday party venues, and Tumble Times also began to provide focus groups for children with special needs.

In December 2006, the Five Points Sports Complex introduced its company mascot, Sporty the English Pointer Puppy. Children and adults alike instantly loved Sporty. The English Pointer pup began appearing at Tumble Times birthday parties and community events throughout South Jersey.

On January 1, 2007, the Five Points Sports Complex changed its company name and logo for the third time. Again, growth and diversity forced this difficult decision. Sports & More, originally the name for the day camp only, now encompassed the entire facility. The new name, SPORTS & MORE, provided unlimited growth potential, as the facility prepared to expand beyond just sports.

On October 1, 2007, Sports & More came under new ownership. The Rastelli family, of Rastelli's Foods and Meat Stop, took over to help the facility to really flourish! The day camp, now directed by Tara Rastelli, has been branded with a fresh name and new activities for its campers. Camp SAM has large inflatables, caring counselors, fun weekly themes, new sports clinics, special guests, and projects for the senior campers! The snack bar has also grown, becoming a full-service cafeteria with salads, sandwiches, burgers, fries, pizza, snacks, drinks, and so much more! The Rastellis have followed up on the plan to expand Sports & More to more than just sports. The facility has become the proud home of South Jersey Storm cheerleading, managed by Rachael Rastelli!

In January of 2009, Camp GLAM was created to be a unique twist on traditional summer day camp. For girls who did not have a love of sports and sports-related activities, Camp GLAM is Camp SAM’s sister camp. Girly girls will have fun learning about fashion and accessorizing, coordinating fashion shows, cooking and cake decorating, gardening, and so much more!

Also in January of 2009, Sports & More started its first youth sports league, South Jersey AAU Storm Basketball for boys and girls to experience the professional side of youth sports programs. Through AAU Storm, young athletes will practice weekly for competitions that will take them throughout the Tri-State area and even Florida for qualifying finalist teams. AAU Storm athletes will also be able to meet many professionals in the field to learn the importance of practicing, keeping up on school work, and what colleges look for in their athletes.

There is much more to come from Sports & More as we continue to evolve to fulfill our community’s needs and interests.
